WHAT WE DID:
Today was our first day back!  Highlights of the period included:
  • learning about what a 21C (21st Century) classroom is about.
  • We played a game where we wrote down our name, where we're from and three questions people could ask us.  Then we crumpled them into paperballs, threw them at each other and then picked one at random.  We sat down with the person who made the ball.  Period 1 had enough time to do an around-the-room introduction of everyone.  Period 3 will do this at the start of class on Thursday September 7th.
  • We had a brief introduction of CLASSCRAFT and were given our access codes.

HOMEWORK:
  • Come prepared with ideas on what the "Rules of the Road" re. use of the roller chairs should be.
  • Have the various forms handed out signed and returned.
  • Use the Classcraft access codes to choose your character and class.
  • Come prepared to introduce your partner.

I was shocked to hear about how everything went so smoothly on such a tragic event such as 9/11. Everyone's possible needs were met and they were all kept happy. I watched this video on Facebook a few weeks ago and this random guy saw a homeless guy sleeping on a bench and snuck a few bills into the man's pocket. The man woke up and was very excited to see it. He went to the store nearby and bought himself blankets and food. Later on, the man who gave him the money went up to the homeless man looking very stressed. He explained how his daughter was sick and he had no money to buy her medicine to get better. The homeless man went into the store, returned everything he bought and came back out with the medicine the man "needed" for his daughter. The man who originally gave him the money was so ecstatic he almost started crying. He gave the homeless man twice as much as he originally gave him just to make sure he continues to pay-it-forward. As set up as this was, it's amazing to see how people can react to situations based on how much people are in need and it was nice to watch. Something I could do to perhaps benefit other people could be anything from a simple smile to someone who looks like their having a bad day, or the last of my change to the person behind me in Tim Hortons could make a world of difference to how someone's day goes. 🙂
