4/25/2014

QUESTION:

Which groups have power at school? In your community? Which groups experience discrimination or exclusion in the community?

In a way that I am trying to not sound racist, the people around my community that influence the decision making and have the power are the aboriginal peoples of Canada. They have the power to block highways when they protest, to stop buildings due to sacred land. So in conclusion the aboriginal peoples of Canada hold the power

I find no group or clique has a certain power. I myself was part of a "clique" and i felt extremely boxed in and generally sad within it. Not because the people were bad, or because i was a bad person, but because we just did not relate. I put on a fake face, i said fake opinions. It was a very fake world for me. I have met many people in school "popular" and non popular and excuse the language but this whole "who has the power thing" is bullshit. Almost every person was hiding an aspect of themselves or going through general teen drama that others go through. We are all people and all of us are different. Therefore this whole idea of cliques and mean girl stereotypes in high school are so fake and impossible. They trick teenagers into thinking that they should belong to a clique. However wouldn't it be nice if cliques didn't exist and you can just talk to people without this imaginary idea that if every belief or interest doesn't add up you cant be friends? I really think so.
